KoRn - FAQ / Band Information:

Other KoRn Information

Who Formed KoRn:
  • Its not really a person individually but four different bands brought together  to form one of the worlds best bands: Sexart, Ragtyme, L.A.P.D., and Creep.
'KoRn'?:
  • Perhaps it is shortened from the Mortuary that Jonathan worked at, Kern County. There seems to be a million different "KoRn" origin stories. But I do know why the logo is "rough" looking. The first album was about Jonathan Davis' childhood and lost innocence, so he wanted it to look like a child's hand writing (Hence the backwards R, and K in place of C.) Jon drew the very 1st KoRn logo with a crayon, and with his left hand (he's right handed).
Jonathan and HIV:
  • Jon does not have HIV, and it's only nickname (he uses this nickname as a message to the people that called him gay, and because he was hooked on freaky unprotected sex.) Jonathan signs his autograph with a smiley face, made from the letters HIV.
Fieldy's Nationality:
  • Fieldy is half Italian and half Mexican.
Caco?
  • Caco is the guitar technician for Head and Munky. He is also responsible for the arranging the guitar effects on Follow the Leader.
Ham Cam?
  • Danny "ham cam" Hamilton,  is the guy who takes a lot of the live photos and also the guy who recorded most of Who Then Now and Deuce Videos. He recorded most of Who Then Now at Ross Robinson's studio "Indigo Ranch studios".
Loc?
  • Tony "loc" cruz is one of KoRn’’s body guards. He Mostly follows Jon but some times Munky too. He can be seen in the Deuce video.
Kare Bear?
  • Kare Bear is the "minder" of KoRn. He is a personal assistant to the band.
Sean Olson?
  • Sean Olson was the only jock that was nice to the guys from KoRn in the early days. They wrote a song called Sean Olson but they don't associate with him now.
Why did Jonathan start playing bagpipes?
  • Jonathan played many instruments when he was younger, including bagpipes, drums as well. Jon even likes to play drums more then singing. He played in a lot of competitions and did very well. And being of Scottish decent, bagpipes seemed natural. When recording self-titled he wanted to see what it would sound like to play bagpipes with the other instruments (Shoots And Ladders). They liked it, and so every KoRn album has included them except Untouchables. An Untouchables  bag pipe track was recorded, but the band wanted to do something different.
KoRn's influences:
  • The guys have many influences but the most influential artists include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Faith No More, Cypress Hill, and the Beastie Boys.
Who is talking at the end of the self-titled album?
  • This recording was found on a tape lying around the studio. The guys liked it and so decided to put it on the end of the album.
Good God Video?
  • This is featured on the original Life is Peachy U.S. release (when the A.D.I.D.A.S. video was made they replaced it). Put it in your CD-Rom drive and you can play it. The Australasian version does not include any multimedia, however it does include a hidden track of Twist, with just Jonathan singing.
Who is talking at the end of Follow The Leader?
  • This is a conversation between Fieldy and Cheech Marin, who also does lead vocals on the song Earache My Eye.
Why are there different lyrics on All In The Family?
  • For some unknown reason the versions of All In The Family are different on the US version and the Australasian version (Clarkworld remix). The U.S. version has additional vocals at the beginning, and also various other lyrics in the song are different.
Why is there white noise at the end of Issues? / Backwards lyrics
  • Jonathan says "We put the white noise there because it was like at the end of the album, it's like when a TV station goes off the air, and makes that noise, that static noise." The secret song on Issues is actually blocked out by this noise. KoRn put the real secret Issues song on track 9, "Am i going crazy" Backwards on top of the actual song!
  • If you play the beginning of Blind backwards it says "AAAAAAhhhhhggggg WE RULE!".
What kind of guitars do Head and Munky play?
  • KoRn use Ibanez K-7's. They are used to achieve the low A notes (deep "large" sound). Munky uses a Mesa/boogie amplifier while head prefers a Marshall.
Who Is On The Self-Titled Album's Cover, and What Is He Holding?
  • For some reason the band refuses to tell who it is. Munky says that, the shadow is holding a sling blade knife in his right hand. Though, Jon still says "It’’s a horse shoe!" when he was asked about it.
Issues?
  • Apparently, Fieldy was flipping through Jonathans' Lyric book and said out loud "Man You Got Issues". Therefore KoRn's fourth album bears the name "Issues."
Daddy: True Meaning
  • "People think Daddy was written because my dad f**ked me up the ass, but that's not what the song's about. It wasn't about my dad or my mom. When I was a kid I was being abused by someone else and I went to my parents and told them about it. They thought I was lying and joking around, so they never did sh*t about it. They didn't believe it was happening to their son." - Jonathan Davis  When KoRn played daddy for the first time live, Jon broke down right in the middle of the song, and then band had to carry him out off the stage.
Adidas/Puma:
  • During the first two albums, KoRn, and Life Is Peachy They wore Adidas as part of their own style, then Adidas noticed and started supplying them with freebies. One day Puma came along and offered them $500,0000 to were there's, and they did so they now mostly were Puma. Lately, Pony clothing has been worn more by the band.
Elementree:
  • Elementree is the record label the KoRn own (a division of Warner Bros). They have signed 4 bands/artists so far, and they are: Orgy, Videodrone, Deadsy, and RBX (rapper). KoRn's managers are the ones that came up with the Elementree record idea.
K@#Ø%!:
  • Kunt.
Rappers Has KoRn (or KoRn members) Worked With:
  • Ice Cube, Tre, Nas, Mack 10, Q-tip, Xzbit, Method Man, and Red Man.
How Many More Records KoRn is Planning To Release:
  • No set amount, but they have a contract with immortal/epic for 2 more. Jon admits on Mtv's "KoRn Diary part 2" that he wants to keep on going for at least 10 years, just "a little grayer, and a little older."
Vampire:
  • Jonathan likes to bite people (only the ones he loves). Jon some times sleep bites, and walks around in his sleep biting people. He once bit Fieldy and Fieldy punched Jon. In the Deuce video there is section where Jonathan talks about his vampirish leanings.
The Acapella version of Twist:
  • This is the hidden track on "Life Is Peachy", it starts roughly 1 minute before the CD ends.

Concluded Halloween, 1998.
  • "KORN Kampaign ‘‘98": KORN launched a whirlwind political campaign-style tour to promote the release of FOLLOW THE LEADER. It brought the guys all over North America to spread the news of their "Family Values" platform to hordes of fans at special "fan conferences" that were organized at every stop along the tour route. Lasted from August 17 in Los Angeles through September 1 in Phoenix. KORN chartered a jet, which took them to record stores in such cities as Riverside (CA), San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Toronto, Atlanta, and Dallas. They talked to fans at every stop, answered questions during the special "fan conferences" and signed autographs. Jim Rose hosted the entire "Kampaign" tour. Celebrities at various stops included Ice Cube and Todd McFarlane.

It's all these fans who have helped spawn one of the largest Internet fan bases and largest number of fan-created "unofficial" websites on the ‘‘Net. The website was completely re-vamped to include a "KORN News" section, that is constantly updated with the latest on what's happening with KORN, new photos of the band, access to a store where fans could buy the latest KORN merchandise, and more.
  • WWW.KORN.COM is also the new official site of "KORN-TV," the band's Internet network. The current "KORN-TV" website--found at www.korntv.com--is still available on the Internet for an infinite amount of time and features re-runs of the first season of "KoRn's After-School Special."
  • "KoRn's After-School Special 1998" aired every Thursday at 4:30-5:30 PM PT from March 5 - April 16 (six weeks). The weekly program gave thousands of fans around the globe a personal tour of the world of KORN while recording FOLLOW THE LEADER in the studio in Los Angeles. KoRn’s warped vision of a variety show (KoRn Tc) would not have been complete without a regular who’s who of porn stars and smut peddlers. "F**k it, I like porn," Jonathan admitted. "I don’t give a f**k. I have a huge-ass collection, ‘bout a hundred movies. I love f**kin’ sex. I love it, I love it, I love it. I like raunchy porn—the nastier, the better."
  • Some of the special celebrity hosts and guests included members of 311, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Sugar Ray, the Pharcyde and Orgy (who are signed to KoRn's label, Elementree Records); porn stars Ron Jeremy, Shane, and Randy Rage. Two particular highlights of the series were the separate appearances by two of the leaders in the dominatrix world: Dita and Dominic.
  • After witnessing the wanton goings-on KoRn TV on the After-School Specials, Epic Records executives had a fit. Fornicators, pornographers, and Adam Carolla, oh my…This was no laughing matter. Thoughts of lawsuits and Mothers Against KoRn unions had the label in panic. Unfortunately for Epic, their frantic pleas fell on deaf ears. All appeals to the musicians’ better judgment were greeted by the same response: "Don’t tell us what to do."
